Oct 21 Update
Dennis was more alert today. Much more. He is expressing his displeasure at the restraints by frowning and moving his arms and legs but not agitated like yesterday.
The blood in the urine has lessened and the output has increased. He is visibly less swollen. (Yesterday they found a bladder infection but treated it right away). They will be changing some of the tubing today, which might make him less uncomfortable
The lung on his left side still has some ‘goo’ but they suction that off and believe it will clear more as they move him around and as the antibiotic continues it’s work.
They are staying on top of the two infections and they are clearing.
The physiotherapist wants him sitting in a chair today! That is a big production but they believe it will aid in both the waking and the body ridding itself of fluid etc. (That is also improving he is much less swollen)
A nurse today told him that as soon as he starts to respond to their direction…wiggle your feet (he did) and squeeze my hand (he did not) and that once they felt he could respond to direction they will take the breathing tube out.
That is motivation for him, I pray.
Better all round!
There is worship music playing in his room now. The nurses say they like it. I know his angel does. I will be adding some of what you have been suggesting in your replies to the posts.
Abigail is feeling much better specific to the COVID effects…just the last 6 weeks of the pregnancy challenges. She is excited. We are planning a shower for her.
I feel stronger daily.
Yesterday, which was a bit harder, as he was very agitated, I asked for comforters to come to him. They have and for all those angels and cloud of witnesses, I am most grateful.
With love to you all,
Katie and family
