Our Final Update

Dear Friends:

I hope this email finds you all well and excited about your own Christmas season. This will be the last of the notes from this rather epic journey we have been on as a family.

Last Friday morning, two days after Dennis came home, we got a text from Abigail that she was in labour. I was invited to be a part of the big day, so I made my way to their home. Just to set the stage for this story, Abigail and Jamie did not find out the gender of the baby during the ultrasounds, they wanted to wait for the birth. So, the excitement was even a bit more pronounced.

I found a very happy couple, with Abigail well into the first stage of labour. Not too many hours passed, the midwife was called and then the hoped for home delivery went into full gear. I was coming back up from gathering warm towels from the laundry room when I heard their exclamations of joy. The baby was born!

I came back into the room to find the baby covered on Abigail’s tummy and as there was a lot going on, she remained there for at least 15 minutes. I asked, ‘what did you have?’ and they both said, ‘we don’t know!’. Things got so busy even the midwife hadn’t been able to check. (I am sure we will laugh at that every time we talk about the day). And so, the grand unveiling and the pronouncement, “you have a girl”. The look of delight on the faces of the proud parents will be etched in my memory for the rest of my life.

It is our pleasure, to say that we now have a new grandchild. A tiny girl named Annabelle Charlotte Wieler. She is as darling as her name and we are all ‘over the moon', happy. Abigail tells this wee one often, “you might be the most prayed for baby in the whole world”.

Dennis is gaining strength daily, so glad to be home and with this note I am including a photo of him, the day he met Annabelle for the first time. Thank you seems too small a word to express the gratitude we have for your on-going love, prayer and support.

From all of our family we pray His richest blessing over you and yours as we celebrate the wonder of His love. Merry Christmas and may you have a Hopeful New Year.
